Light Tables is a video art performance for the Noche Blanca of Oviedo 2024 that synthesizes the series developed by the artist César Barrio under the same name since 2015.
Light Tables is a joint investigation with internationally renowned musicians, trained in contemporary music and jazz, who share the ambition of merging all the arts: music, painting, dance and poetry, in a single work. They find inspiration in a question formulated by Iannis Xenakis: Is there a connection between sound, vibration and physical reality? A link is also established with architecture.
Light Tables has previously been presented either as video art or live performance, together with the Sigma Project Quartet, at the Museu da Ciência in Lisbon, the Juan March Foundation in Madrid, the Victoria Eugenia Theatre in San Sebastián, at the 50 Jazzaldia, and the Resis Festival of Contemporary Music in A Coruña. The video presented here, Milk Split on a Stone, made in collaboration with the composer Helga Arias, has been selected for the VIII Festival of Electroacoustic and Audiovisual Music of Chile.
